Origin
In the summer of 2006, was hired to work as a cinematographer and field producer on the hit A&E documentary series- the First 48.
It was a terrible summer.
Every time someone got killed in the city of Detroit, we’d put on a bullet resistant vest and drive to the scene of the crime. We saw the worst things imaginable. Unspeakable tragedy.
Up until then— as a freelancer— just took whatever job came along. One month you’re filming dancers in Miami, the next homicides in Detroit. But that summer something shifted. No longer wanted to float aimlessly from job to job.
On a day off, went to a documentary in the theater. It was depressing. Halfway through the film, had the thought: “Just tell what to do to fix this problem- and will quit my job right now and do it.”
And the rest of the film was just more problems.
Left that theater knowing my life's purpose. We would tell stories about people who are actively working to heal the Earth and the people in it.
A few months, Leave It Better began.
Welcome.
